The Municipality Brad –
an important mining center, also for tourism interest for housing the
“Muzeul Aurului” (The Gold Museum) (one of the few institutions of this
kind around the world, presents exhibits manufactured of native,
crystal gold, minerals, equipment and tools used in the past,
archeological objects regarding roman explorations within the Apuseni
Mountains), an ethnographic collection as well as the statues of Crisan
and Avram Iancu.
Tebea, Baia de Cris commune,
holds the Avram Iancu memorial complex. The Panteon from Tebea, located
7 km north-west from Brad, where the “Gorunul lui Horea” is found, the
place where in 1784, Horea spoke to the rebellious bondmen, and the
grave of Avram Iancu, hero of the Romanian revolution in Transilvania
between 1848-1849.
Crisan- birth village, Ribita commune, with the memorial house rebuilt
and the bust of Crisan, as well as the orthodox monastery “Crisan”-the
XIV-th century. The memorial house contains two building parts
performed of oak wood. As a characteristic of the Zarandului Land, the
house is on a rectangular plane with access entrances from an opened
stoop. The house itself, covered with straw, is built with two rooms
used today as museum.
Criscior-with the
oldest architectural monument in Zarand-The orthodox church
(1404)-building of the of the prince Vlad Balea, as well as an
ethnographic and history museum of mining. The church is traditional
type formed of nave, pro-nave and absidat altar, initially hexagonal,
and starting the XIX-th century, semi-circular. The tower is massive
and high located in front of the pro-nave. The picture within the
pro-nave dates somewhere around 1395-1404. Also the representation of

Ribita - a church
built by princes Vladislav and Miclaus, with a valorous wall painting
(1417). The picture within the nave is Byzantine style and represents
the founder of the church.
Vata de Jos - spa station of local interest, with mineral springs, thermal waters and sulphureous waters.
The tourism zone Brad is a separate ethno-spiritual area, The
Motilor Land, recognized by the costumes of the motilor criseni and by
the rich musical folk, as well as by means of other folk
manifestations, as the “Targul de fete” (The girl fair) on the Gaina
Mountain.
The Tourism potential of this zone includes natural
objectives of national importance: the canyons and caves from Bulzesti
and Grohot, the geological reservation on the northern-western part of
the Vulcan peak. |
