Industry

The largest part of the county's economy is covered by industry whereof as main branches (over 62%) we mention the mining and metallurgic industry; of important interest is the> electric energy, wood exploitation and processing, construction materials, light industry, food industry, cottage industry etc.

The main products of industry are: coal, cast iron, steel, cold-rolled steel, electric energy, lime, cement, concrete steel prefabricates, iron ore, silk fabrics, clothing, beer, cars and equipment for mining works.

The industrial activity is performed by 99 economic agents with integral state capital or state majority whereof 2 autonomous administration centers and 7176 economic agents with private. If taking into consideration the units subordinated to the administration centers the number of economic agents with state capital would be of 51.
On the county"s territory 6 autonomous administration centers are functioning too, subsidiaries of RENEL Bucharest, facility producing and delivering energetic and thermal energy.

The situation of economic agents with state capital pointing out the main branches we observe the following: Mining industry - 6, metallurgy - 2, electric energy - 4, exploitation and processing of wood - 2, textile industry - 4, food and drink industry - 10, show-wear industry - 1, textile confections, leather and furs - 2, processing robber and plastic furniture - 1, car and equipment industry - 5 and other branches.

The industrial production activity of the 356 economic agents with private capital is embodied in products of the food industry, textile products, furniture etc.
